Good to know
Everything worth knowing before your flight: what to wear, who can fly, and what happens if the weather changes its mind.
About the flight
How long does it take?
40–70 minutes in the air; 3–5 hours in total from the meeting point to the return.
How is a balloon steered?
The wind carries it. The pilot changes altitude to find air moving in a different direction – so the route and landing site can’t be planned in advance.
How many people fly together?
We fly balloons of different sizes. Depending on the balloon and the temperature, 2–3, 4–5 or 8–12 passengers fit in the basket.
What to wear and bring
What should I wear?
Closed, flat shoes, waterproof if possible, as the grass is often wet with dew in the morning. Long trousers and long sleeves, even in summer; trousers rather than a skirt. A cap helps against the heat of the burner.
What should I bring?
A camera or phone, something to drink, and insect repellent in summer.
Who can fly?
Can children fly?
From the age of 10, accompanied by an adult – one adult is enough. Ages 6–10 on a case-by-case basis; children 140 cm or taller can see out of the basket more easily. Children up to 14 pay the child price.
Who cannot fly?
- children under 6 (between 6 and 10 we decide case by case),
- anyone who is pregnant or may be pregnant,
- anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs or sedating medication,
- anyone whose health does not allow it. We may ask for a medical certificate.
What do I need to be able to do?
- Climb in and out unaided – you step over the edge of the basket.
- Stand for about an hour – there is something to hold on to, but no seats.
- Walk a short way over uneven ground if needed – the landing site is often a meadow or a field.
- Hold on with bent knees when landing – it feels roughly like jumping off a low chair.
When should I check with you first?
If you have had recent surgery or a fracture, have serious back, neck, hip or knee problems, a heart or circulatory condition or epilepsy – talk to your doctor and call Dalma before ordering. Please also tell us about a strong fear of heights; we’ll help.
Is there an upper age limit?
No. If you meet the points above, you can fly at any age – many grandparents receive a flight as a gift.
Can I bring my dog?
No pets, please – the sound of the burner frightens them.
Weather and cancellation
What if the weather is bad?
The pilot always decides. We don’t fly in strong wind or rain – we set a new date and your ticket stays valid.
What if I can’t make it?
If something comes up, you can still change your date more than 48 hours before the flight. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the flight or don’t turn up, the ticket is forfeited. If something beyond your control kept you from letting us know in time, and you can show it, we’ll make an exception.
Tickets and booking
How long is the ticket valid?
One year from issue. It isn’t tied to a name, so you can pass it on. It can be extended for a small fee, by written arrangement.
How can I pay?
By bank transfer. After ordering we email the payment details and send the ticket once payment arrives.
When will I get a date?
After ordering, give Dalma a call and you agree on the date together.
Safety
What do I need to watch out for in the basket?
You get a briefing before take-off, and the pilot’s instructions must always be followed. We show you the landing position, and you only climb out when the pilot says so.
Not sure? Call Dalma before ordering: +36 30 685 4917. The pilot always has the final say on take-off and boarding.
